Enrique the favoured one

Despite earlier claims that Andre Villas-Boas is the favourite for the vacant Barcelona job, reports suggest Luis Enrique is now the number one candidate.

The Tottenham Coach had been linked with the Camp Nou club following Friday’s news that Tito Vilanova has resigned after suffering a cancer relapse.

The new Celta Vigo boss is now the man most likely to succeed Vilanova.

Enrique was Barcelona B Coach between 2008 and 2011 before move to Roma for an ill-fated season.

The 43-year-old was handed the reins at Balaidos after Abell Resino’s departure just this summer, but the Blaugrana hierarchy see the former midfielder as the ideal man to maintain the club’s philosophy.

Barcelona will reportedly pay Celta Vigo €3m for Enrique, and will let assistant Rubi go to the Celestes to be their new man in charge.
