Soleye: Promotion is ours

Team Manager, Niyi Soleye confirmed to a reliable source that the club brought in eight players to fortify the team while twenty players were retained which means the club registered just 28 players for next season.


The Rock City boys played twenty test matches, won twelve and drew two, the two draws being the match against CAF champions league campaigners, Enyimba and premier league club Sunshine Stars of Akure, but as we speak the team are currently at their camp in Abeokuta preparing.

Niyi Soleye didn't mince words when he said that the usual trend amongst clubs in the NNL is to set promotion target which is normal but took it a step further by saying the club management have set a double header target for the team to secure a promotion ticket and as well get to the final of the Federation Cup.

The team manager of Gateway also confirmed that Gateway FC have scrapped sign on fees while players’ salaries were jacked up but refuse to give details of salaries paid to players.

"We have scrapped the issue of sign on fees since last season and players’ salaries increased. Due to official reasons I won't give details of the amount our players get on monthly basis but I can assure you that these players are well paid,' Soleye said.
