The Nigeria Premier League moved up seven places in the world ranking from 60th the previous year to 53rd in the latest release by the International Federation of Football History and Statistics for the year 2013.
The ranking which was based on activities between the 1st of January 2013 to 31st of December 2013, saw Tunisia, Egypt and Morocco ranked ahead of Nigeria while Mali, South Africa, Angola, Cameroon and Ghana complete the top ten strongest leagues in Africa.
At the world stage, the Spanish La Liga was considered the strongest in 2013 while the English Premier League came second, the German League, Italian League and the Brazilian League complete the top 5 strongest in the world.
IFFHS is an organization that chronicles the history and records of association football, it was formed in 1984 and its head quarter located Lausanne, Switzerland
