Awakan Is The New Gateway United Head Coach

Olabode Awakan is the new coach of Gateway United, as it was predicted by Futball Galore.

The news of Awakan taking over the hot seat at Gateway was mentioned by us when the 2013/14 season ended.

A top official at the club confirmed to Futball Galore that the UEFA B Licensed coach has signed for the club.

“Coach Awakan has signed as a coach, but we won't be releasing the details of the contract as both parties want the terms to be confidential,” said the official to Futball Galore.

The Rock City Boys are campaigning in the Nigeria National League Pool B and failed to gain to promotion to the Nigeria Professional Football League under the watchful eyes of Henry Nwosu in the 2013/14 season.

The club decided to go for a coach with a different tactical approach as they prepare for another season in the NNL in the 2014/15 season.

Awakan has coached Abia Warriors, Eko United, Akwa Starlets, C.O.D United and Remo Stars.

Last season, pundits and fans in the NNL all hailed Awakan, the ‘magician’ that restored Remo Stars' status in the second tier division.
