Captain of Kano Pillars Theophilus Joel Afelokhai believes the league
champions are capable of breaking the pre season jinx this time
considering their level of preparations and support from the management.
The reliable goal minder who accompanied Coach Okey Emordi to the post-match conference after they dispatched Dolphins 2-0 in the opening game of the tournament attributed their victory to the determination of the players to play for each other and also show appreciation to the club management for attending to their needs.
“We are playing as a team and everyone understands that we must support each other which was the reason we defeated Dolphins,” the goalkeeper explained.
“It is the same spirit that we will take into the Champions League to do well more than we have ever done in the competition."
“We want to start the year with a trophy and the opening victory has given us confidence to go ahead and win the remaining games,” he said.
The Kano State Government recently constituted a committee headed by the Deputy Governor, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje as Chairman and former NFF President, Ibrahim Galadima as the Vice Chairman.
This, Afelokhai said has been a morale booster for the players noting that, “the way things are going now, we believe we can go far. We have now got a good board that will be working to ensure our off-field needs are met."
