Gombe United put behind the draw they suffered last time out at home to beat visiting Sharks of Port Hacourt 1-0.
In a match heavily publicised by reports of Gombe's skipper and central defender for 19 years Alhaji Kwairanga proposed retirement at the end of this season, Sharks couldn't find their feet at the Pantami Stadium.
It took Gombe United 76 minute to break down the stubborn backline of Coach Gbenga Ogunbote Sharks, and via 12 yards courtesy of Haruna Babalo.
Speaking after the game, the about to retire Alhaji Kwairanga who played only because of the absence of Papa Idris due to a flu infection said: "Today's victory (for Gombe Utd) over Sharks is hard-earned and am appealing to our fans to be patient with us as we are still trying to get the blend in the team right."
"We have so many new players in the team and from experience I know it will take us up to midseason to gel properly."
