Nigerian Women Team Of The Week‏

We assembled the best Nigerian women eleven in the past week and for us here they did well to justify their inclusion.

Onyinye Okeke [Edo Queens, Nigeria]
Well placed to stop a Seyi Gbadebo's effort early on and called into action on several other occasions against Osun Babes. In the second half she palmed a thunderbolt out from Aghogho Williams under the bar then stopped a screamer. Fabulous from the Flamingoes’ number one.

Lilian Cole [Bayelsa Queens, Nigeria]
Though the team lost one-nil to Rivers Angels, it was a much improved defensive show from the Yenagoa girls and no one else takes the glory than Lilian. She was a soldier at the back.

Emmanuel Tosin [Confluence Queens, Nigeria]
Kept Nasarawa Amazons attackers quiet at all times while making sure any danger was cut out at birth. She superbly and readily displayed her intelligence and foresight.

Onome Ebi [Minsk, Belarus]
Made a handful of important interceptions and worked well at the back, blocking balls too and not allowing the Zorka-BDU forwards any breathing space.

Osinachi Ohale [Houston Bucks, USA]
World class show by the former Delta Queens and Falconets centre-back. She made two decent defensive clearances and was overwhelming in the win at Boston Breakers.

Cecilia Nku [Rivers Angels, Nigeria]
Always on the front foot and she showed why fans hold her in high esteem. Rarely played any loose pass and delivered when it mattered most.

Gold Orji [Nové Zámky, Slovakia]
The Nigerian shone like a million star against Slovan Trencia, caused problems with her pace, passes and pressure while also netting and creating one goal.

Ogonnna Chukwudi [KIF Orebro, Sweden]
The creative midfielder caused real problems for Jitex defenders, running at them with the sort of pace that destroyed them. She was at the heart of most of KIF Orebro’s best moves and delivered several dangerous crosses.

Aghogho Williams [Osun Babes, Nigeria]
Though her goal came from the penalty spot, she was the catalyst for Osun Babes and made it her 5th strike of the season.

Ijeoma Obi [FC Bobruichanka, Belarus]
Once again she confirmed her well-founded reputation with a perfectly met half-volley. Grabbed a brace over the weekend.

Amarachi Orjinma [Pelican Stars, Nigeria]
Was at her potent best and gave Ibom Angels several warnings before scoring a well-taken brace. Who can ever question the qualities of the predator who has netted seven goals in the current domestic league season?
