Attah Igala Unity Cup kicks-off

All is set for the maiden edition of the Attah Igala Unity Cup, with nine Local Government Areas of the Eastern district of the state participating in the tournament which kicks-off from Monday 21st – 27th April 2014.

Chairman, Idah Local Government Area Council, Dr Musa Major has said they are ready to host the people of lgala Kingdom in the traditional headquarters, Idah for the Attah Igala Unity U16 Cup.

Dr Major, who is the host and head's forum of Chairmen from the district, said his council is ready to stage a hitch free tournament, stressing that his administration was ever devoted to engage youths through sports.

The week-long Attah Igala U16 Boys Football Championship is organised to commemorate the coronation of His Royal Majesty, Michael Idakwo Ameh Oboni II who is a-year on the throne.

However, chairman, Kogi State chapter of the Youth Sports Federation of Nigeria and organizers, Umar Nnda has expressed delight with the readiness of the hosts and commended the cooperation of Dr Major in ensuring a successful competition.

He promised that the Federation will organize a competitive tournament that will aid the discovery of talents, which was one of the purpose for the competition.

On the schedules of the tournament, the Kogi State’s YSFON Publicity Secretary, Samuel Ahmadu, said the participating teams are expected in Idah on Monday 21st April and registration and screening commences on Tuesday.

The preliminary matches serves off on Tuesday with Ankpa slugging it out with Dekina, before Ofu trade tackles with Igalamela in the morning, while in the evening, Ibaji will seek to upset Olamaboro, after Bassa do battle with Omala.
