Al Gharafa Ladies number one goalkeeper Dikachi Uzor is delighted with her personal performance in the 2-1 come-back win against highly-fancied Qatar SC Ladies on Friday.
The Super Falcons invitee was praised for her steady performance in the Qatar Women Championship semi final match played on Friday evening.
The reliable custodian kept Gharafa in the game right up until the final whistle though thanks to some stunning reflex saves and blocks – one of which came late on to keep out a goal bound strike from the desperate Qatar SC.
After making a good start courtesy of some sweeping moves from Soo Adekwagh, Favour Uzor and Blessing Musa, Gharafa were pegged back by a lone goal at the end of the first 45 minutes.
However, they persevered and got two second half goals from a Qatari international to win in front of over 300 fans.
The former Delta Queens goal tender says that she was pleased with her performance in the game, and stated that the whole team is proud of their effort.
On her official facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/dikachiuzor?fref=ts), she wrote: “We won 2-1 against Qatar SC in today's (Friday) semi finals. Jehovah I thank you for the victory. Wow! feeling excited.
“It’s very nice and I’m very happy for the performance. We showed that we deserved it, they came all out with their new recruits from Europe. I think our girls did very well, but… the best team won” she told futbalgalore.blogspot.com
“It was very tense. When we started in the first-half, we didn’t want to commit any mistakes. But the second-half went well and it was a nice game to watch.”
As at press time, the second semi final match between Al Khor and Al Sadd was yet to be decided. Ex- Bayelsa Queens playmaker Okwaraji Ogechi represented Al Sadd.
