Colourless Taraba fall to Masu Gida

Champions of the NPFL Kano Pillars continued their recently found good form by beating hard fighting 10 man Taraba United 3-1 in Kano.

Ezekiel Mba put Pillars ahead in the 25th minute scoring from long range and catching goalkeeper Richard Ocheayi unaware.

In the 30th minute, goalkeeper Richard Ocheayi was given his matching order for vehemently challenging the referee's decision to award pillars a contentious free kick.

Pillars will later put the ball in the back of the net in the 38th minute but Gambo Mohammed effort was ruled out for offside.

Gambo Mohammed will however get the goal his performance deserved when in the 55th minute he put Pillars 2 goals up.

After the goal the Pillars team appear to be cruising to a routine victory until Taraba's Esom Tochukwu capitalised on a momentary loss of concentration to reduce the deficit to 2-1.

Pillars regained the two goal advantage in the 78 minutes when Eneji Otekpa finished a sweeping counter attack move to make it 3-1 to the defending champions.

The goal took the sting out Taraba United as Pillars seized the initiative and almost grabbed a fourth but for poor finishing.

The game ended 3-1 in favour of Kano Pillars and preserved their three match unbeaten run which contained two draws away to NPFL newcomers Abia Warriors and Giwa FC respectively.
