Jesse Lingard and Danny Welbeck scored two goals each to lead Manchester United to a comprehensive 5-1 preseason victory over a combined A-League 'All Stars' team on Saturday for David Moyes' first victory as manager.
Dutch star Robin Van Persie scored a late goal to the delight of more than 82,000 fans at Sydney's former Olympic stadium. Albanian striker Besart Berisha scored the lone goal for the A-League team in the second half.
Welbeck and Ryan Giggs set up the opening goal for midfielder Lingard in the 11th minute after several close chances for the English champions in their first visit to Sydney since 1999.
Striker Welbeck doubled the lead in the 34th, again off a pass from Giggs, to give United a 2-0 lead at half-time.
Berisha sent a low shot into the left hand corner in the 52nd to draw one back for the home team, but Lingard restored United's lead three minutes later with a powerful strike off yet another pass from Giggs.
Welbeck grabbed his second goal in the 70th before Van Persie drilled a right-footed shot into the net in the 87th.
Teenage midfielder Adnan Januzaj had a chance to make it 6-1 for United in the closing moments of regulation time, but his strike hit the post.
United now travel to Japan for the third stop of their preseason Asia Pacific preseason tour for friendlies against Yokohama F Marinos and Cerezo Osaka next week.
