While briefing newsmen in Ilorin at the weekend, Prince Olanipekun said that his Council will support all activities that will promote the development of sport and youths in the area.
He also backed the proposal to have Beach soccer pitch at the Oloffa stadium.
He commended the organizers of the competition, adding that the competition will add a new dimension to sports development in the area.
The competition is being proposed by Pro-Dev Sports Promotion, in association with Sheedel Global Concepts, and is tagged ‘Offa 2015’.
The event was designed to assist the development of the community, using youth and sports as a tool.
While explaining the advantages to the Chairman, representative of the organizers, Jimoh Bashir said that they chose Offa to host the event because of the great awareness, and following the existence of a functional league in the area.
He called for the support of the Local Government in organizing the tournament, and especially, the construction of a Beach soccer pitch, which he said, will assist the development of the game in Kwara and Nigeria.
