Amokachi Names Crack Eagles Squad For CIV & Sudan

Enugu Rangers forward Osaguona Ighodaro was the surprise exclusion from the Super Eagles team to the two international friendly against Cote D’Ivoire and Sudan.

The warm up match matches would come up on January 12th and 17th respectively.

Upcoming winger Angel Wilfred of Kogi Unted, Enugu Rangers attacking midfielder Chinedu Udeagah and Mighty Jets central defender Ahmed Idris were also dropped by the technical crew.

2013/2014 Nigeria Professional Football League record goalscorer, Mfon Udoh will lead the attack, while captain Chigozie Agbim retains his place as the number one goalkeeper.

Upcoming midfield maestro Joseph Nathaniel was one of the pick of the team, with exciting Kingsley Sokari also included.

New Kano Pillars signing Christian Obiozor and in-demand Gbolahan Salami completes the list.

Daniel Amokachi, who will lead the team in the two friendlies explained that Ighodaro didn't perform up to expectation.

“I did say to the world and especially to the players that only 19 of them will make the team and current form and not names will form the basis of selection, that was exactly what happened in the case of Osaguona,” the former Everton star explained.

The team is expected to depart the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport on Thursday night for the United Arab Emirates via an Emirates Airline.

Team Administrator, Dayo Enebi Achor, said all necessary details for the trip have been worked out for the six-hour trip to UAE.
