Rejuvenated Anthony Ujah, speaking after he netted his eighth
goal in the Bundesliga second division on Saturday, has taken stock of
the season so far and has scored himself high marks.
Named in Nigeria's Fifa Confederations Cup roster, it meant the
23-year-old forward was a late comer to Cologne's buildup to the start
of the 2013 - 2014 campaign.
But the attacker quickly adapted to the tactics of manager Peter
Stoger, who took over the reins at the Billy Goats at the start of this
season.
''I think my season has gone well . I started the season directly after
just a week holiday as against 3 weeks every other players had because
of my engagement with the national team.
''And also we are three players with 8 goals so far which is a good
development for the club and a key reason we are at the top of the table
for many months,'' the former Mainz striker said.
Demoted to the second - tier two years back, the Super Eagle is hopeful
that Cologne will clinch promotion back to the topflight if they can
win at least two of their remaining five games.
''We are nine points from the second and third position with the second
with a game at hand. We can be promoted as early as our next home game
but we will try to round it up in our next match away at Union Berlin,''
he concluded.
Cologne have not conceded a goal in their last four games in the
Bundesliga second division but in that period they netted only 3 times.
