Sharks FC were held to a 0-0 draw by 10-man Dolphins at the
Sharks Stadium Stadium on Saturday in the match-day 5 of the 2013/14
Globacom Nigeria Premier League.
The game started with a succession of corner kicks to the home side. With the pressure beginning to pile-up, the visitors responded as Edem Eduok sent a low drive that resulted in a comfortable save by Danladi Isah in goal for Sharks.
A delightful bicycle kick by former Dolphins winger Ajani Ibrahim from a Fred Obomate's cross landed into the net but it was disallowed. The strike was a good one as fans had divided opinions over the referee's decision to rule it out.
Kelly Kester embarked on solo run from his half but his effort from 20 yards was easy for Sunday Rotimi.
On the half hour mark, Eduok found space in between 2 Sharks defenders, but he was blocked from shooting.
Ifeanyi Inyam got a pass in front of goal, he held up play, only to be denied by the Dolphins defence line. Eduok was also guilty of missing a great chance to net the curtain raiser.
Back from recess, Sharks again started the stronger of the two sides, but failed to capitalize on their two early chances.
Chima Akas had a low drive that missed the visitors' net by whiskers. It was one of those chances Sharks failed to convert.
Ajani was responsible for a sitter in the 77th minute. A beautiful pass was threaded to him and he miscued his shot. It was a let-off by him.
The hosts had the chance to record a victory when Victor Alegbe was red carded for a second dangerous tackle in the 84th minute.
Stanley Eguma's men threw caution to the wind as they defended stoutly, and forced Sharks back.
