League champions snatch draw at Giwa

Ten man Kano Pillars secured their second point away from home, following up last week's draw away to Abia Warriors, with a 1-1 draw away to Giwa FC in Jos.

Giwa FC, who were re-admitted into the league a week ago, dominated the reigning NPFL champions Kano Pillars but had to wait till the 31st minute to break the deadlock, courtesy of Edoh Ocheme, who scored his second goal of the league after three matches.

Pillars were fortunate to end the half trailing by a lone goal as Giwa's effort and possession deserves a goal before the break.

The champions emerged for the second half a changed team pummelling the hosts with shot after shot untill Kabiru Umar deservedly levelled the tie for the Champions.

With the score tied at 1-1 and time running out, Giwa FC went in search of a second but twice when they should have taken the lead, goal keeper Theophilus Affelokhai denied them with two fantastic stops.

In the 87th minute Kano Pillars goalscorer Kabiru Umar was red carded but Pillars hung on to the result despite a late rally from Giwa FC.

The second consecutive draw away from home for the reigning NPFL champions will no doubt ease the pressure on underfire head coach Okey Emordi.
