Pillars Edge Samba In Thriller

Kano Pillars shrugged off the latest accident setback in their ranks to edge Samba FC 3-2 in a friendly match played at the Sani Abacha Stadium today.


The reigning Nigeria Professional Football League champions took the lead through Ubong Ekpai in the 38th minute as the first half ended 1-0.

Pillars continued to show quality at resumption were two goals up as big striker Christian Obiozor also registered his name on the scoresheet.

Rabiu Ali then added a third five minutes after the hour mark, before goals from (Auwali Ali 75th) and (Abubakar Naminta 80th) ensured that final ten minutes of the match was nervy.

The CAF Champions League first round first leg match between Moghreb Tetouan of Morocco and Pillars was rescheduled by a week following the attack suffered by Pillars which left several of their players injured.

Pillars were to have battled Tetouan this weekend, but the Morocco FA will now choose a new time within the weekend of the March 20-22 for the encounter.
