West Bromwich Albion No2 Dave Kemp is pleased for Brown Ideye after he struck in victory over Swansea City.
Ideye was close to leaving for Al Gharafa last week.
But Kemp played down Ideye’s potential move away.
“A lot happened on transfer deadline day - it is a very hectic day. At any time we were desperately trying to bring players in,” he said.
“I don’t know how close Brown was to going to going out. He was never that far out, let’s put it that way.
“I’m not saying there weren’t discussions because so much happens with people trying to take players and bring players in. He didn’t have his bags packed.
“He is a new signing as far as we are concerned because he hadn’t been in the team that much and hopefully he can stay in the team and keep going well.”
