Baba Anini who led Confluence Queens to third position in the 2010/11 Super Six left no doubt that three players in his team have what it takes to fight for shirts in the senior national side.
Falcons boss Edwin Okon did not include any Wada Queen in his provisional squad due to start training for the All African Games Qualifier, Olympic Games and the FIFA World Cup on 22nd February in Abuja.
“I'm very disappointed that the technical crew failed to at least invite three of our players to the national camp,” the coach was quoted by Ojo Tosin, the media officer of Confluence Queens on Wednesday.
“It was shocking. The coach based on the fact that he only wanted players who are ready to fight for shirts decided to sideline some players in his list.
“The league is full of talented players. Limiting national team invitation to a certain group of players is not encouraging.
Baba Anini went on to appeal to Nigerians to support the Falcons in their quest to do well in the three competitions.
“Edwin Okon is an experienced coach in women football. I want to urge soccer loving Nigerians to rally round the team and make sure we have quality representation in the assignments.”
The coach added by urging sponsors and multi national companies to support women football financially as they have achieved more than their male counterparts.
