Beach Soccer team coach Audu Adamu has
said his team will be out to win the Power Horse Championship
scheduled for Durban, South Africa.
The Beach Eagles are currently camping in Badagry, Lagos ahead of the championship taking place from March 6 to 8.
Adamu said the competition would serve as a preparation for the World Cup qualifier against Libya.
He said, “The players in camp are better
than those who featured at the Copa Lagos. This is because we have 13
new players in the squad.
“The new players, who were selected from
recently-concluded Eko Beach Soccer, are young and talented players.
They are hungry for success.
“The players already know the basic rudiments of the game which makes it much easier for us.”
He said that the team would not take any opponent for granted.
Adamu
added, “We are going to play all teams like we are playing the final.
Winning the competition is important for us, because we want to use it
as part of our preparation for the world cup qualifier against Libya on
March 14.
“I am sure we would emerge as victorious at the end of the competition.”
Adamu, who has been the team’s coach for
seven years, commended the Nigeria Football Federation for approving
the participation of the team in the competition.
He said, “The approval by NFF for us to
participate in the competition is commendable; our taking part will give
us an extra motivation to succeed at the world cup qualifiers.
“The federation has provided all the things we required toward a successful outing. We are not lacking anything.
“We are determined to win the trophy for the nation and our fans who have stood by us at all time.”
