Ekiti United Football Club started their pre-season matches with back-to-back wins away from home.
The newly assembled players under Coach Samson Omiponle, opened their pre-season with a 1-2 win over Nigeria Nation-Wide League side, Ajiroba Ooni FC of Ile-Ife.
Ekiti Utd on Friday evening defeated highly rated ABS FC of Ilorin 2-3 at the Kwara State Sports Complex, Ilorin.
Despite resuming for the new season a fortnight ago, Ekiti United played a fast and expansive game with youthful emerging talents, many of whom are indigenous players.
"This season, we will work hard to stabilise in the National League, so the matches was a chance for the players to put together the things we've been working on in practice," stated coach Samson Omiponle.
"In practice, we stressed coming out with a hard-working, up-tempo, and aggressive approach to the game. We told our players that we know there will be mistakes because we haven't had time to review all systems or build chemistry yet, but that we want to come out and establish our team identity right away."
However, Ekiti State Governor, Peter Ayodele Fayose, said his government is prepared to support the club in its quest to regain lost glory.
He said his government will establish grassroots structures to tap talent and feed Ekiti United.
Meanwhile, the club management led by Princess Oluwafunmilayo Olayinka-Adefemi, has gotten a well equipped 15-room building at Iyin-Ekiti which will serve as the players camp and the team have now move their training session from Annunciation school, Ikere Ekiti to Eyemote Grammar School, Iyin Ekiti.
Princess Oluwafunmilayo, has promised a new dawn in the club and vowed to ensure she lead the team to the Premier League next season.
