Supreme Court FC on Friday extended
their winning streak with an assertive 2-0 win over visiting Yobe Desert Stars
in one of the match day five of Nigeria National League decided at the Area 3 Pitch in Abuja.
The victory automatically retained Apex Boys on top
of A1 group with 10 points.
From the blast of whistle to the end of the
encounter, Supreme Court FC took charge of the game under ‘cool’ conducive
evening in front of cheering fans that are eager to host Premier league action
come next football season.
After missing flurries of chances, the effort of the
home Boys however paid off in the 42nd minute of the match after
stand in captain Emmanuel Gbemi was hacked right inside the opponents’ 18-yards
box.
Friday Jacob stepped up and struck in the
first goal from the spot.
Later on, Peter Michael fired a blitzing shot right
from a 25 meters distance away from goal post via a free kick to make it goal
number two in the 75th minute.
“I give glory to God for seeing us through. That
second goal was my target and I thank God for helping me to get it at the right
time,” Recounted Michael.
For Jacob, “team effort has been carrying us all
along. We have our target and we believe that we can make it by the end of the
season.
On his part, head coach of the Apex Boys, Fatai Osho was
full of praises for his boys who he said gave good account of themselves.
The
Abuja-based would next week travel all the way to Fufore to confront
Adamawa United hoping to garner more points on match day 6.
