Rangers started the better of the two teams and almost took the lead in the fifth minute.

Sunshine Stars threw men forward in search of a leveller, but the Rangers defence held firm for the win.
With the results, Rangers have 20 points from a possible 42, while the Akure Gunners relinquished 1st position to Wikki Tourists who won 1-0 against Ifeanyi Uba FC at the Rojenny Stadium.
