Ten-Man Rangers Down Wolves

Enugu Rangers played almost an hour with a numerical disadvantage but still registered a 1-0 win over Warri Wolves on Sunday.

An early goal from Razaq Adegbite ensured that the Flying Antelopes claimed victory in their Nigeria Professional Football League week 13 match at the Warri City Stadium, though the visitors had to play 57 minutes of the match with 10 men following the expulsion of Etim Matthew.

The result ensured that the Enugu side recorded their second win in two matches, while the Seasiders have now gone an equal number of league outings without registering a victory.

Rangers got off to a flying start and opened the scoring in the 18th minute, with Adegbite slotting home to put the visiting side in control early on.

However, the Enugu side were dealt a major blow just after the half hour mark when Matthew was shown a red card for dissent.

Wolves, with a numerical advantage, dominated possession and forced Rangers on the back foot, though the Imama Amakapabo led side remained a potent threat on the counter attack.

The Seasiders created several good chances to gain parity in the second half, though a combination of poor finishing and some excellent defending by Rangers kept the Warri side at bay.

The result sees Rangers move up to 11th on the log with 17 points, while Wolves slide down to 12th on 16 points.
