The Secretariat of the Nigeria Nation-wide League has opted for an
abridged 2014/2015 Season. This is to ensure that it meets the August
deadline of concluding league matches before the grand finale of the
Federation Cup slated for the same month.
This was made known on Wednesday by the Executive Secretary of the Nation-wide league, Olusola Ogunnowo. "I want to make it known that the 2014/2015 season will be abridged. We have informed the clubs under the Nation-wide League to take note of this," he said, adding that "the reason for this is not far fetched because you know that due to the recent general elections, we couldn't start the league as scheduled because of the shifting of the polls.
"Considering the time frame available to us now, there is no way we will have nineteen weeks from now to the month of August that we have to conclude the season.”
Ogunnowo however assured every stake -holder in the league that the 2014/2015 Season will be much better packaged. "I also want to add that this season will surely be the best in the history of the League as better things have been planned on how we want to run this season.
