In a press conference in the
media centre of the Abuja National Stadium this afternoon, Stephen
Keshi's appointment was finally announced to the Nigerian media.
He has been awarded a two year deal as head coach of the Super Eagles.
The media and fans alike are split on the news. Many still praise Keshi for delivering the AFCON trophy a few years back, while others vilify him for his failure to make it to the 2015 edition in order to defend his title, however it must be added that Keshi was working without a contract since the World Cup finals in 2014.
Keshi spoke to the media about moving forward together:
“We need the media. I cannot do this alone,” said the Big Boss.
“I will work with my office (the nff) to move our football forward. The past is the past.”
“We lost in the past, we drew and we lost. But we have to move forward now.”
