Kogi United threw away a two-goal lead and were held to a 2-2 draw by battling FRSC FC in a friendly match at the Lokoja Confluence Stadium on Sunday.
Ahmed Jimoh's goal nine minutes from time capped a fine comeback from the Keffi based side.
Obinna Martins put the Yomi Elijah tutored lads ahead with a superb header, with Olaitan Adebayo doubling the lead from the penalty spot.
Bidemi Abdulwahab then pulled one back and Jimoh's equaliser meant that Kogi United needed to go back to the drawing board for the new season.
FRSC's spirited fightback did not look likely during an opening 30 minutes where Kogi United, chasing a win after the setback of going down 1-0 to Niger Tornadoes on Friday at the same venue, were close to their best.
Vastly improved forward Obinna struck when the defence line of FRSC allowed the former FC Lokoja striker the chance to head home a wonderful cross from Alih Isiaka in the 28th minute.
Adebayo doubled the lead with a perfect penalty kick after sending the goalkeeper the wrong way.
Abdulwahab's bullet shot from inside the area reduced the arrears when Kogi United defenders were ball watching.
FRSC were determined and they kept pressing for an equaliser - with the duo of Amos Daniel and Austine Oladapo spearheading the charge.
And they were level when Jimoh, who was free at the far post was left to convert past Detan Ogundare to salvage a fully deserved point for his side.
