A deadline for foreign invited professionals of the Nigeria under-20
team will be set on Friday according to the team secretary Ibrahim Aliyu
Auwal.
Aliyu told SL10.ng that the team, which will hopefully depart for
Germany on Wednesday, will be camped in Nuremburg and all invited
foreign players are expected to join them for camping ahead of the World
Youth Championship.
However, following doubts that some players might not be released by
their professional sides the soft spoken secretary said the team will
meet on Friday after their arrival in Germany to set a deadline for the
invited foreign based players.
"We will set a deadline on Friday and stand by it as we will be
flexible to all of the players in our decision," he told SL10.ng
"We might consider different dates for the players based on the demands
of their various teams as already some teams have made it known they
will release their players mainly based on their position in their
leagues we have to respect that.
"We don't want to soil their relationship with their clubs but at the
same time we don't want any distraction, hence the reason why we have to
set a deadline to avoid any player holding us back in our plans".
