Super Eagles soar in FIFA ranking

Nigeria have moved up two places in the latest FIFA ranking for the month of April.

The African champions are now ranked 45th in the World and sixth in Africa.
The Eagles polled 620 points in a month where they were only involved in a friendly game against Mexico, which ended in a draw.
The highest ever ranking achieved by the Eagles was in 1994 where they were ranked fifth in the world.
However, in the latest FIFA rankings, for Africa the highest ranked team still remains the Elephants of Côte d'Ivoire, who moved three places and are now ranked 21st in the World.
Egypt, Algeria, Ghana and Cape Verde Island are the other African teams ranked ahead of Nigeria in the latest rankings by the world football governing body.
Globally,World Cup champions, Spain are still the number one football playing nation in the world.
