Golden Eaglets thrashed Super Falcons 6-0 in a friendly match played earlier today (Friday) in Abuja.
Chidera Ejuke opened the goal rush with a low drive in the 16th minute from Kehinde Ayinde's pass, before curling a glorious shot past keeper the goalkeeper on the stroke of half-time.
Emmanuel Amunike's boys scored more goals in the second half. Paul Obasi, Kingsley Michael and Henry Daniel were on the scoresheet. Orji Okoronkwo completed the emphatic win by latching on to Henry Daniel's pass to fire his team's 6th goal.
The Golden Eaglets are set to take part in a six-nation sub-regional West African Football (WAFU) Under-17 Tournament to be held in Togo between April 19 and 27, while the women's senior side have an April 15th warm-up match with Cameroon in Abuja.
“We know we are always going to score goals but a clean sheet is pleasing for the back four,” head coach of the Golden Eaglets Emmanuel Amunike began.
“I'm really pleased for the boys because this has been coming for a while. They're a good bunch of players with a good spirit amongst them.
“There's two spirals in football: one up and one down, there's nothing in between. Hopefully we're on the up,” he told futbalgalore.blogspot.com after the match in Abuja.
