Bobby Abel gave Glo League newcomers FC Taraba a 1-0 win over five-time Nigeria League champions Enyimba Fc of Aba.
Enyimba, who lost 1-0 to another league newcomers Abia Warriors, never
got going and it was a matter of when not if the home team will open
scoring or not.
The moment finally came in the 19th minute when Bobby Abel finished
smartly after a fine move to put FC Taraba 1-0 up in a jam packed
stadium in Jalingo.
The host held on to end the first half 1-0 against Enyimba.
Upon resumption of the second half Enyimba seize the initiative going
forward but couldn't find a breakthrough to level the scores.
Enyimba continued to be very poor in the game, with FC Taraba more
organised and determined to win the game forcing coach Zachary Baraje to
introduce Andrew Abalogu for Sibi Gwar, who immediately drew a fine
save of goalkeeper Richard Ocheayi of FC Taraba in the 71st minute.
The chanced happened to be Enyimba's only real attempt to level scores
and at the blast of the final whistle the jam packed Jalingo Stadium
went delirious, while for the people's Elephant their second consecutive
lost has heaped more pressure on under fire coach Zachary Baraje.
