Akwa Unites sees off Nembe City to stay on top of Nigeria Premier League

Akwa United maintained their grip on top spot in the Nigerian Premier League after defeating Nembe City 2-0 at the Uyo Township Stadium today.
The Uyo Boys came into the match with most of their key members in the squad fit for the encounter.
Ubong Ekpai, finally getting a chance to play in his preferred position, displayed early and often how influential he could be when playing in an advanced role on the pitch.
In the fifth minute, Emeka Akume, who made his home debut for Akwa United slashed a volley just over the woodwork.
The home fans finally celebrated when Ukeme Davies slotted home a lovely shot in the 12th minute of play.
Nembe players looked desperate for the ball having being denied playing opportunity by the League Management Company's demands.
The razor sharp Ekpai made it 2-0 for Akwa United 10 minutes after Ukeme's opener. It was his first goal of the season.
The second half was all in the Uyo side's control, as they dictated the action, pace, and flow of the match playing more aggressively.
The final scoreline was a true reflection of the resurgence of Akwa United under the watchful eyes of Patrick Udoh.
