Young Nigerian advised to stop playing football

19-year-old Anglo-Nigerian striker Tobi Alabi is forced to end his short footballing career due to heart problems.

Alabi, who recently played for non-league English side Metropolitan Police FC had collapsed during the friendly match against Molesey not long time ago. Initially it was believed that youngster suffered an asthma attack, but further medical examination have shown scarring which is indicative of having heart attacks and he has been diagnosed with HCM (Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy).

"I spoke with Tobi on the telephone yesterday. He is very down after being told that he will never be able to play football again," said Alabi's coach Jim Cooper.

"I am absolutely gutted for him. He is one of the nicest guys off the pitch, he always had a smile on his face and like many others who play Non - League football, he still had aspirations to play professional football again.

"I know that Millwall FC have been in touch with him and he is very appreciative of this. We wish Tobi all the very best for the future and we will obviously keep in touch with him to offer any support that he needs," the coach added.

In his very short career, Tobi Alabi played for Metropolitan Police and Ebbsfleet United in England and for Ljungskile in Sweden.
