Super Eagles ratings against Italy

8 Austin Ejide

The stand-in Eagles captain was outstanding in goal as he made several saves including two point-blank saves against Mario Balotelli. He was so confident and composed. But was again forced out of the game due to injury.

6 Solomon Kwambe

He joined the attack well, but caught napping in his recovery. He was the weakest point in the defence. He put in a fair shift and can only get better.

7 Benjamin Francis

He joined the attack well, recovery rate was good. He made a good assist for Nigeria’s second goal.

7 Godfrey Oboabona

He was The Trojan in the defence as he thwarted many attacks of Italians. He marshaled the defence well and enjoyed a personal duel with Balotelli.

6 Azubuike Egwuekwe

He started with fear but soon gained his confidence and thwarted many attacks as his tackle were timely and neat.

7 Ogenyi Onazi

He was busy as always. His marking was great. He dribbled well and gave some good long balls. He did a lot of dirty job in the middle of the park.

6 John Mikel Obi

He tried to control the midfield, but was sometimes too slow and clumsy. But again he delivered some of his telling long balls to spark of the Eagles charge for goals.

5 Nnamdi Oduamadi

He was not at his best in the game. He made work much for the other midfielders to do. You begin to wonder he is really up to it in the Eagles as he has yet to post a decent game since the big win against Tahiti at the Confederations Cup in Brazil in June.

8 Victor Moses

He was lively, used his pace and skills to trouble the Italy defence. He was denied a couple of goals by the Italy defence.

7 Bright Dike

The big striker has shown he has the quality to challenge for a first-team shirt in the Eagles with yet another superbly taken goal for Nigeria. He was full of running and was always a threat whenever he went forward.

8 Shola Ameobi

The Newcastle United man posted his finest outing for Nigeria yet. Apart from his goal, his calmness and good ball distribution was a threat to Italians. He attacked with great precision. He created the first goal and deservedly scored a fantastic second goal.

6 John Ogu

The 45th minute substitute complimented Onazi and Mikel in midfield. He has good marking ability and his ability to hold on to ball frustrated the Italians. He was denied a goal by the Italy goalkeeper.

5 Ahmed Musa

He brought life into the attack with his pace and crosses but his decisions were late at times. He could even have got on the score board.

4 Emmanuel Emenike

His physical presence was noticed but he seemed heavy and a little disinterested when he was brought in for his 20th Eagles cap.

3 Brown Ideye

He had no effort at goal after coming in as a 77th minute substitute. Again questions will be asked if his is really of international class.

7 Vincent Enyeama

He came on in the 65th minute for the injured Ejide and made several saves to ensure that the African champions came away with a heart-warming draw.
