Giwa FC defeated Abia Warriors 6-5 via penalties in a tension soaked Nigeria National League Champions Cup final played at the FIFA Goal Project Centre on Thursday.
The win confirmed the Ambassador Chris Giwa-funded side's status as the numero uno of the Nigeria second-tier division.
Peter Onyekachi drew the game's curtain raiser for Warriors with his second goal of the competition, before Ocheme Edoh replied for Giwa FC. The shootouts ended 6-5 in favour of Giwa.
Team tactician of the Jos side, Abdullahi Usman Biffo has declared that his boys were aware of the teams that graced the tournament and were mentally ready for the challenge.
The Jos side will now concentrate on preparation for the 2013/2014 Glo Nigeria Premier League in good form, having won the Nigeria National League Super Four Champions Cup.
"We have found a good dynamic and we have always been playing well and it has allowed us to pick up many important victories," began Biffo to futbalgalore.blogspot.com on Thursday in Abuja.
"Our focus is on having a successful premier league debut campaign, even as we know that there are teams that are going to be very complicated.
"We are going to fight, though, to try and surprise the top flight sides. In recent years we have never made it easy for anyone at Rwang Pam Stadium or in away matches.
