Greensprings were never considered a major contender for the title and so they left Lagos to be part of the zonal finals of the Etisalat U-15 football championship quietly.

But on Monday at the Liberty Stadium in Ibadan, Greensprings School of Lagos who are the only private school in the tournament, emerged as winners at the Southwest qualifiers. They are now the zone’s flag bearers for the national finals scheduled for 2015.

After maintaining a 100 percent record during the state finals in Lagos, Greensprings became the representative of Lagos at the zonal finals and they were expected to compete against Ekiti, Ondo, Ogun and Osun in order to determine the zone representative.

From their first match, Greensprings team captain by Elvis Onyese were in superb form whitewashing Osun 9-0 to send warning signals to other teams in the tournament.
