Nigeria international Dele Adeleye was at the heart of the
defence when 10-man OFI Crete forced Kalloni Lekanopedio to a 1-1 draw
in a Greek Super League week 15 tie on Wednesday evening.
The hosts with the inclusion of their Nigerian star played better in a goalless first half at the Theodoros Vardinogiannis.
Crete suffered a setback when Juanma Delgado opened the scoring from the penalty spot in the 69th minute.
And Crete were back on level terms three minutes later – Georgios Makris knocking the ball into the net.
Adeleye was a thorn in the flesh of Lekanopedio attackers as he was at his no nonsense best, timed his tackles and hardly put any foot wrong.
However, any hopes of a win for the homers was quashed when Theodoros Tripotseris was sent off for a second bookable offence.
With the numerical advantage, victory looked likely for the away side, but Adeleye showed class with a rugged display in the business end of the game.
