The
Association of Nigeria Premier League Club Chairmen and Managers, (Club
Owners) have sent a goodwill message to one of their frontline
proprietor of a professional football club in Nigeria Senator Dr.
Abubakar Bukola Saraki on his emergence as the Senate President of the
Federal Republic of Nigeria and chairman of the 8th National Assembly.
A
statement issued by the Association after its meeting in Abuja which
was jointly signed by the chairman Barr. Isaac Danladi and the
Coordinator Mr Jude Anyadufu, described the emergence of Dr. Saraki as
senate president as the best thing that would happen to the sports
sector particularly football.
Club
Owners described Saraki as a sportsman personified considering his
passion and huge investment and supports to the development of football
in Nigeria.
Senate
President Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki is the proprietor and chairman of
professional league side ABS football Club Ilorin which took the Nigeria
league by surprise with the quality and standard of play exhibited by
the club. He also established the best football Academy (kwara Football
Academy) which is accredited by NFF and CAF, as well as his well known
interest and supports for Arsenal FC of England.
The
Association said that the Nigeria sports sector is expected to witness
more sports friendly legislations that would uplift the growth and
development of Sports in Nigeria under the Saraki led chairmanship of
the two chambers of the National Assembly.
Club
Owners expressed deep joy and congratulated Senator Saraki as well as
the Speaker of the House of Representative Hon. Yakubu Dogara and other
sports personalities in the National Assembly and prayed for their
successful tenure of office.
It
would be recalled that some prominent sports personalities in the
present 8th National Assembly as elected include former Chairman of
Ebonyi state football Association Senator Obinna Ogba, Senator Adamu
Gumba, board member of NFF Hon. Suleiman Kwande, Former chairman of
kwara united Hon. Zakari Mohammed, Hon. Abubakar Wudil, Former
commissioner of Sports in kwara state Hon. Abubakar Kannike, Hon Godfrey
Gaiya, former board member NFA Hon. Ayo Omidiran , former commissioner
of sports Kano state Hon Abubakar Nuhu Danburan and others.
