The U-17 Women National Team, have qualified as one of Africa’s representatives at next year’s FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup finals taking place in Costa Rica following the withdrawal of South Sudan from the qualifying race.
The Sudanese were to host the first leg of the qualifying fixture on the weekend of 1st – 3rd November, but threw in the towel, making 2012 quarter finalists Nigeria the first African team to reach the finals that will be staged in four Costa Rican cities.
“It’s good that the girls have qualified early. The Nigeria Football Federation will ensure the team starts preparation early enough and very ready to do Nigeria proud,” stated NFF General Secretary, Barrister Musa Amadu.
Pundits had tipped the Nigerian girls to feast on South Sudan.
The four venues for the 2014 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup finals are San Jose, Alajuela, Liberia and Tibas.
