Chelsea midfielder, John Obi Mikel, has reiterated that his immediate
future lies in London, with reports strongly linking him with a January
move to AC Milan.
The Rossoneri manager, Filippo Inzaghi, wants to add another midfielder to his squad, and has beamed his searchlight on the experienced Super Eagles star.
However, Mikel has insisted that he will not be joining another team in the winter transfer market, stressing that he will weigh up his options in the summer.
”For now, Mikel is remaining at Chelsea. It is true AC Milan are interested in him. He doesn’t have the mind of changing clubs in this window. He wants to concentrate on the Premier League, and after the season he’ll make a decision,” one of Mikel’s representatives told SL10.ng.
Schalke 04 coach Roberto Di Matteo had been in touch with Mikel’s camp over a move this month, but the Nigeria international was no longer enthusiastic after getting a run of games.
The 27-year-old intends to see out the remainder of his contract except he is declared surplus to requirements by manager Jose Mourinho.
This season, the ex-Lyn Oslo man has appeared 12 times in the English Premier League, including four starts.
