KESHI UNVEILS THE KILLER SQUAD
Inspirational goalkeeper Vincent Enyeama tops a list of 15 foreign based stars that Super Eagles’ gaffer Stephen Okechukwu Keshi, has invited for this month’s 2014 FIFA World Cup qualifying
match against the Harambee Stars of Kenya.
Eleven of the wise men were in the squad that hoisted the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations in South Africa last month, while the weapon of mass destruction Obafemi Martins makes a return, and there is a surprise call for Ukraine-based Babatunde Michael, who played for the Dream Team at the inaugural CAF U-23 Championship in Morocco 15 months ago.
Enterprising winger Nnamdi Oduamadi, who also shone brightly for the last U-23 squad in their qualifying games, is called. But the biggest dark horse, so to say, is Academica star John Ogu.Team skipper Joseph Yobo also misses out.His omission was not stated as at going to press.
African champions Nigeria take on Kenya’s Harambee Stars in one of the Day 3 matches of Group F of the 2014 FIFA World Cup race. Nigeria lead the group on four points while Kenya bring up the rear with only one.
The tantalizing clash is scheduled for U.J. Esuene Stadium, Calabar on Saturday, 23rd March.
