FALLOUT OF THE MATCH BETWEEN AKWA UNITED AND KANO PILLARS.

Kano Pillars gaffer Baba Ganaru  has taken a swipe at the Uyo Township Stadium saying, ''it needs to be relayed’’. The amiable coach made this known to www.futbalgalore.blogspot.com after his team’s one-nil loss to Akwa United on Sunday.

''We were given a good game by the hosts and fans were entertained by the players. The low point of the game was the pitch and I also think we didn’t play well in Uyo,'' he said.

The coach also dispelled insinuations from the media that Pillars depend on certain players for success and strides in the round leather game.

''We are a cohesive force and you can notice this in the way we carry out our tactical approach. Pillars don’t depend on individuals to win matches but a bond that no one can break.’’

The coach promised to correct the loopholes and lapses noticed in the game against Akwa United in subsequent matches.

Meanwhile, Akwa United technical adviser Justin Tenger has lambasted his strikers for being complacent in front of goals this season. The experienced tactician told reporters moments after his team’s outstanding victory against league champions Kano Pillars.

''We had the opportunity to win our last away match in Makurdi, but my attackers kept on wasting begging chances. I hope to take them through their shooting skills in our training sessions.’’

The former BCC Lions, Lobi Stars, Gombe United, Kastina United and Kano Pillars made history as the first Akwa United gaffer to beat Pillars for a long time in Uyo.

''Every coach has his own way of planning for a match. The message I relayed to my boys was to stay focused. Pillars already lost the match before coming to our home ground,’’ he jokingly told reporters.

The veteran helmsman who has been around for over 24 years appealed to league clubs to make the environment condusive for coaches.

‘’ Club managements needs to motivate and make the environment good for us,’’ he said.
