Agent negotiating Akabueze's release

Atta Aneke did not beat about the bush when quizzed about the contract situation of his client, Chukwuma Akabueze, who played for Wuhan Zall last season.

The Chinese club lost their topflight status at the end of the 2013 campaign and have embarked on cost cutting measures due to a decline in revenues.

And one of the players that might be affected by the downsizing exercise is winger Chukwuma Akabueze, who is on a salary of 400,000 euros per annum.

''I just returned from China, there is no agreement yet. He is back to Wuhan but we are still discussing if he should stay or not.”

''Negotiations will be concluded within a week or two,'' Atta Aneke said.

Chukwuma Akabueze's commitment for Wuhan Zall was not in doubt last term even though the club were relegated.

He was involved in 27 out of a possible 30 games in the championship, and finished as joint - top scorer for the central China team.
