Highly rated coach Mansur Abdullahi has tipped the Nigeria U17 women
team to make a statement at the 2014 FIFA U17 World Cup in Costa Rica.
The West Africans were beaten by France in the quarter final of the Azerbaijan edition, but the former Olga Queens and Bayelsa Queens head coach feels it's the time for the Bala Nkiyu tutored girls to shine.
The Flamingoes proved they can make a statement with a good display against their U20 sisters last week Saturday. The game ended one-all, with team skipper Tessy Biawho netting the goal for them in the first half.
He said: “Japan have improved over the years with their rapid soccer development, I think they would be formidable .
“Just below them, there is Korea DPR, but nothing after that.”
The Flamingoes would begin their campaign against China on 16th March, in a group that also contains Mexico and Colombia.
And even with the talents of Chinwendu Ihezuo, Uche Kalu and Tessy Biahwo, the former Super Falcons assistant coach believe the team can achieve success.
He added: “The team has more quality and can show that. I urge stakeholders and well meaning Nigerians to support Bala Nkiyu and Anne Chijiene,” he told futbalgalore.blogspot.com
Other teams are amongst the favourites, but we have a lot of ambition and can show we have improved from the last edition
