Flamingoes bows to River Angels

Onyiyenchi Ohadugha scored the "insurance goal" to earn Rivers Angels a 3-1 victory against a battling Flamingoes on Sunday.

Pelican Stars forward Chinwendu Ihezuo opened the scoring when she met a through ball cross before finding the top corner in the 40th minute.

The Fed Cup Queens drew level as Ngozi Ebere's thunderbolt from 25 yards gave the U17 women goalkeeper no chance.

But the evergreen Stella Mbachu made it 2-1 with a close range strike and Ohadugha's 88th minute goal ensured Bala Nkiyu's wards lost to their more experienced opponents.

The U17 women team would be travelling to Asaba, with Delta Queens waiting for them as part of their tour of friendly matches.

Rivers Angels are preparing for the NWFL champion of champions' match against Nasarawa Amazons in Lokoja.
