Agbim: The ultimate is the trophy

Chigozie Agbim has said winning the trophy for the first time will be a good experience.

Speaking after the good fight back that saw the Super Eagles stop Morocco 4-3 in the first quarter final at the Cape Town Stadium this evening, Agbim said after winning the Afcon trophy last year, adding on the CHAN one would be very special especially for the young players on the team.

“It’s only me, Ejike Uzoenyi and Azubuike Egwuekwe who were part of the Afcon winning team, and winning this CHAN trophy would be another sweet experience. “After fighting back like wounded lions, we are determined to win this trophy as well,” said the goalkeeper.

Agbim who had a poor game in the 2-1 loss to Mali in their first Group A game said even after going down 3-0 at half time against the skillful Atlas Lions of Morocco, he was still confident that they could fight back and get the win.

“We did not play like the true Nigeria in the first half and I told my colleagues to work harder,” added the skipper who is one of the most experienced players on Stephen Keshi’s team.

The skipper said they are a very hungry team and are determined to make Nigerians back home proud by adding another trophy to their cabinet. It’s the first team the Super Eagles have qualified for the CHAN competition after missing out in the 2009 and 2011 Editions.
