Super Eagles winger says miracle the greatest he was witnessed as a footballer

Enugu Rangers winger Ejike Uzoenyi has admitted that the 4 - 3 win over Morocco on Saturday in the quarter - finals of the African Nations Championship was the greatest comeback he has witnessed as a professional footballer.

Debutant Nigeria on Saturday came from three goals down in the first half to beat Morocco 4-3 in extra time and qualify for the semi-final of the ongoing 2014 African Nations Championship (CHAN) in South Africa.

In what many here are calling a miracle, the Super Eagles recovered from a 3-0 in the first half to score three goals by full time, pushing the match into extra time.

The Super Eagles really looked dead and buried trailing by three goals at the end of the first half.

But Ejike Uzoenyi, player of the tournament so far, leveled on the dot of 90 minutes to take the game to extra time before Aliyu Ibrahim scored what turned out to be the match winner nine minutes before the final whistle.

“God made this victory possible for us and over 160 million Nigerians.
“Even when we were 3 goals down, we never lost hope. This is the greatest comeback I have been involved in. It is so unbelievable.
“I am happy I won the Man of the Match award again, but this victory should not be attributed to Ejike alone. Thanks to my teammates for bringing out the best in me.
“We are prepared to meet any team in the semi - final. I don’t have any preference,” Ejike Uzoenyi told futbalgalore.blogspot.com moments after the final whistle in Cape Town.

The Super Eagles will meet the winner of the quarter - final tie between Libya and Gabon next Wednesday. January 29 at Free State Stadium, Mangaung.
