GOV WADA PROMISES BETTER FUTURE FOR SPORTS IN KOGI

Kogi State Governor, Captain Idris Ichalla Wada has reiterated his administration's continued support for sports development to meet global acceptance in the state.

Governor Wada disclosed this on Sunday in Lokoja at the official unveiling of logos and jerseys for state clubs, Kogi United FC and Confluence Queens FC.

He noted that his administration has been able to further demonstrate why sports has to be used as a unifying factor and national integration with supports given to various sporting events hosted by the state.

He said Nigeria can also model its football league to compete with other developed ones with abundant talents in the country, adding that his government is leaning towards that by transforming the two clubs.

While promising to spread the tentacles of development to other sports in state, Governor Wada charged the players of both teams to see themselves as state ambassadors and always see themselves as one.

He however called for support from relevant stakeholders to partner with the state government in transforming sports in all areas.

Earlier, Sole Administrator of both Kogi United and Confluence Queens Football Clubs, Mallam Abdul noted that the newly unveiled logos and OWU jerseys was part of the mandate given to him in transforming the clubs.

Mallam Adama, who is also the Special Adviser to Governor Wada on Public Private Partnership, PPP, however promised the governor that the two teams would reciprocate the gesture by winning laurels and make the state proud in their respective outings.

Kogi United will be campaigning in the Group A of the Nigeria National League, NNL, while the Confluence Queens will battle for league trophy in the newly introduced Nigeria Women Premier League.
