Simeon Nwankwo scored a brace for Gil Vicente but it wasn't enough to earn his side a point as they lost 3-2 to Nacional in the Portuguese league.
The Nigerian twice brought his side level but a late goal ensured they
return back to their base without a point despite the heroics of their
Nigeria import.
He now has nine goals in the league from 24 games this season, after
his brace despite the disappointments of being on the losing side.
Yet to be capped by Nigeria at any level, he joined Gil Vincente from
second division side Portimonense in the winter of 2013/2014 where he
spent two seasons and scored 16 times.
After a slow start to his career in the Portuguese top flight league,
where he failed to score in his first 15 games, his goal per game this
season proved Gil Vicente were right in snapping him up.
His fine goal form has reportedly attracted the interest of top side in
Portugal notably FC Braga, who are rumoured to be interested in
slapping in a bid for him in the summer.
