Manu Garba Honoured By African Sporting Initiative

Flying Eagles coach Manu Garba has been named Ambassador for Sports by the African Sporting Initiative in recognition of his contribution to the development of youth and sports in Nigeria and beyond.


The ceremony took place at the Old Parade Ground in Abuja on Saturday after the closing ceremony of U15 and U17 football competitions organised by the African Sporting Initiative.

The African Sporting Initiative has an academy in Togo as well as administrative offices in Nigeria, Ghana and Togo.

Manu has won several major laurels for Nigeria.

He was assistant coach when the Golden Eaglets won the 2007 FIFA U17 World Cup in South Korea and six years he repeated the feat as chief coach.

Last month, he led Nigeria to win a seventh African Youth Championship in Senegal.
